SRA is thrilled to announce the return of Village Halls Week from March 17-23, 2025, in partnership with Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE). This year’s campaign will spotlight and celebrate the incredible volunteers who tirelessly manage rural community buildings, ensuring these essential spaces remain open and vibrant for local residents, groups, and businesses.
Across the UK, volunteers dedicate their time to running village halls—from overseeing finances and daily operations to organising community events. In England alone, over 80,000 individuals contribute to these efforts, embodying a spirit of community and resilience.
Village halls in Scotland are invited to join this celebration for the first time, marking a new partnership between SRA and ACRE. Christine Fairbairn from SRA shared, “Everyone involved in running a village hall understands its vital role in community life. Volunteers make an extraordinary contribution, often against the odds, driven by determination, laughter, and countless cups of tea. We’re delighted to bring Village Halls Week to Scotland, honoring both these spaces and the volunteers who sustain them.”
Thanks to sponsorship from Utility Aid, community buildings in both countries will receive free resources, including bunting, badges, and posters, to support local events and celebrate the impact of their work.
If your group would like to participate, please register your interest by December 10 to receive the free campaign merchandise. Let’s come together to recognise the resilience, dedication, and passion of our village hall volunteers!
